Burwood Project
This knockdown rebuild project faced several challenges, including limited space, drainage issues, a steep site, and existing features. Working around a rare heritage-listed tree was a significant challenge, which required special permits and design considerations.
We responded to the client’s desire for a modern front yard to complement the architecture of their new home with a stylish block and aluminium front fence complete with an automatic gate. Granite paving pads, separated by Mondo Grass and accompanied by premium artificial grass, lead to the entrance and side gate. The planting palette includes Lily Pilly hedges, maple trees. An exposed aggregate driveway and garden lighting controlled via smartphone completes the modern look.
A sunken fire pit with European bluestone paving in the backyard creates an intimate outdoor space. Rock boulder and concrete sleeper retaining walls provide both functional support and a natural, rugged aesthetic. Additional features include 300mm steel edging for elevated garden beds, a garden shed, and fencing painted in Colorbond’s Monument. Charcoal concrete pathways connect to granite pads, with premium summer artificial grass throughout. The careful positioning of elements like rock boulders enhances the visual impact, blending seamlessly with the modern, functional design.
